Deed Revision Update

The Board voted to withdraw the vote on the Proposed Deed Revisions of 2019.  The voting was open for 10 months and we did not receive the required number of votes for the revision to pass or fail.  Under Article VII, Section 2, the 1999 deeds automatically renew for 10 years unless a new revision is passed during that time.  We will disregard those restrictions in the 1999 deeds that are no longer enforceable by law.  All of our governing documents are posted on the website at www.scfneighbors.com under the documents tab for your review.

2020 SCFCA Board Candidates as of 9/21/19

Jennifer Chapman – President

I am a native Houstonian and graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in Finance.  My family and I moved here in 2015 because we love the character of the older homes and the big beautiful lots.  I am a believer in the saying that you can’t complain unless you plan to be part of the solution.  So, here I am.  I have served on the Board three different times in the past, twice appointed to vacant positions and then elected in 2019.  I am currently serving on the Board as Vice President, as well as, chairing the Communications, Bylaw Revision and Nominations committees.  I have also helped on the parking lot, playground and landscaping committees.  Our common grounds and assets should be maintained and improved to the standards that SCF residents deserve.   I also believe in following our governing documents, treating residents fairly with kindness and common-sense deed enforcement.  I believe the Board’s vision should be to manage SCF in a way that preserves and increases property values, while also enhancing the quality of life and sense of community for our members.

Eric Birnbaum – Vice President

My family moved to Spring Creek Forest in October of 2018. We chose SCF because it is peaceful, has beautiful wooded lots, a huge pool, tennis courts and lots of other amenities for young families. I would like to see more events that bring in community members and make the best use of those amenities. I have volunteered for the Easter celebration, the Bylaw Revision Committee and the Nomination Committee.   I have an MBA along with strong time management skills and have a solid financial background.  I would like members to vote for me because I bring a new dynamic to the community. I represent young families, which is a growing demographic in SCF.  Since I plan to raise my children here, I am concerned with current issues, but also with the long-term future of this beautiful neighborhood.

Joseph P Jensen - Treasurer

My family is originally from the Midwest and we have lived in SCF since 2015.   I currently serve on the Board as a Section Representative plus I also volunteer at neighborhood events and both of my children are on the Sharks swim team.  What I love about SCF is how it is secluded, has well-kept homes, a great pool, large trees, and most people are very friendly.  It is a great place to retire or raise a family.  I have many skills that I bring to the Board.  In my career, I have had extensive experience in labor relations, human resources, operations, lean projects, and cargo logistics.  Currently, I oversee the employees at our global customer center in Bangkok and I am the technical advisor for our advanced analytics and customer facing applications.  I would recommend voting for me because I am the opposite of what most people stereotype as an SCF board member.  This next year, I want to help install wi-fi in our common areas and implement an electronic access system for the pool.

Sheron Thomen - Secretary

I have lived in Spring Creek Forest for over 32 years and still feel like I am living in a wooded oasis, a quiet comfortable place.  I have helped at various activities: workdays at the clubhouse, National Night Out, Pancakes with Santa, Easter Egg Hunt, and Mother’s Day and Father’s Day activities.  With all of the improvements at the clubhouse area, I would like to see more residents participate in Spring Creek Forest events and make new friends. I have been attending Board meetings under five different presidents, been the assistant to the maintenance chairperson since he has been in charge. I know how deed restrictions and ACC work plus my experience as the 2019 Secretary make me a very good candidate for Secretary on the 2020 Board.  Please vote for me.

Donna Olsen – Section 1 Representative

My family and I moved into Spring Creek Forest in 1978. I was the election judge for the 853rd precinct for almost 14 years. My husband, Tim, and I have had our own business for the last 20 years and will be retiring in January. I would be happy to represent section one and work with the Board on deed restrictions and other important issues that our subdivision will be dealing with.

Judi Orrson – Section 2 Representative

I have lived in Spring Creek Forest for over 32 years.  My son graduated from Klein High School.  I served as President of the Garden Club for 2 years back in the late 80s.  I also served on Deed Restrictions, Yard of the Month committee and concessions for the Sharks swim team.  SCF is one of the best neighborhoods with the most amenities for a lower than normal HOA fee.  Our Board and residents strive to maintain the beauty and integrity of our neighborhood and our residents willingly volunteer to keep it that way.  I am a licensed realtor and also work as a new home sales counselor for area homebuilders for 20 years.  I volunteer with the USO at Bush Airport and support helping our veterans with their housing needs. I also served as President of the 1960 Chapter (now the Great NW Chapter) of the Women’s Council of Realtors and am a past Realtor of the Year for the chapter. I am running for the position of Section Rep to continue keeping SCF a desirable and fun place to live and raise a family.  I would appreciate your vote.

Kristin Buffington – Section 3 East Representative

I have lived in Spring Creek Forest since 2008 with my husband and 2 daughters. I teach 3rd grade in Klein ISD. I have previously served on the Board as a Section Representative, on the Playground committee and on the Social Committee. My family has also been heavily involved in the SCF Sharks swim team for the last 10 years. I support fair and unbiased deed enforcement and would like to focus on improving our amenities.

Dave Bamberg – Section 3 West Representative

My wife and I moved to Spring Creek Forest with our son in 1998 from west Houston.  I am currently working from home as president of Network Texas, a business networking organization, as well as, a commercial artist and a representative for Hessaire Corp.  When another member and I set up Nextdoor for SCF, we initially had 4 members. Now we have 727. This has allowed me to connect with many of our neighbors, as well as 22 other area neighborhoods. I’ve learned a lot about various issues concerning crime, deed restrictions, recommended services, etc. Oftentimes, I am called upon to decide whether a Nextdoor member has violated the terms of membership. Most issues are dealing with advertising, but I have had to warn members about unscrupulous contractors, who have been brought to my attention.  Looking for someone who has a long history in SCF and can represent you as head of our section, then vote for me.  My hobbies include drawing, watercolor art, photography, traveling and working in the yard.  When my wife and I were looking for a new neighborhood, Spring Creek Forest was at the top of the list. The larger lots, trees and how well-maintained it was, convinced us to give it a try. My wife recently joined the SCF Book Club, and I continue to walk the neighborhood as I have for over nineteen years. Working from home now gives me more time to devote to helping Spring Creek Forest.

Blake Davis – Section 3 West Representative

My wife, Carrie and I have been married for 45 years and have lived in SCF for 21 years. I am 65 years old. I have worked in the food industry for 40 years plus as a manager and as an owner. I was voted onto the board last year as a section rep. I am a believer in keeping our neighborhood nice.  I believe the better we keep the subdivision looking and working like a well-oiled machine and keeping the amenities up and repaired, our properties will continue to increase in value, we will have a nice place to live and people will want to move into our area and have a beautiful place to raise their families. I am a proponent of all of our Bylaws and our Deed restrictions to continue to have a beautiful place to live. I want to make sure we keep our annual dues as low as possible and to do that we need to make sure we use those funds the HOA receives to the best of our benefit for each dollar received. I want to be a part of using those dollars in the most beneficial way for the entire community. To save as many as those funds as we can to do other projects and not overpaying for one project or just saving that money for the future. I am asking for your vote for the 2020 board to help me continue with those goals.

Cathy Zito - Section 4 Representative

I am running as Section IV Representative to share the interests and concerns of the section residents to the SCF Board and to represent the SCF community. This is an opportunity to give back to SCF residents with my time and commitment of service.  My husband Steve and I moved from Illinois to SCF in May 2000 to be close to family. So close in fact – we bought a house 3 houses away from my brother. We have enjoyed living in SCF and appreciate the beauty and sense of community that it provides. I currently work as a Legal Analyst for Encana Corporation. Prior to this position, I worked as a Senior Paralegal for El Paso Corporation, J.M. Huber Corporation, Linn Energy (as a Lease Analyst working on acquisitions and divestitures) and Newfield Exploration (merged with Encana). I am detail oriented, a team player, project leader and a good negotiator. These skill sets along with my life experience will ensure my place as a contributing member of the SCF Board and the matters that come before the Board.
